Delta Crochet works mainly in triangles. Here are 3 basic methods of connecting the triangles. Detailed instructions are provided as well as the Chart. It is important that you practice the basics until you feel comfortable Crocheting them. If you would like to learn more about this technique, then take our Delta Crochet-Along, the Star Jasmine Doily (now offered self-paced) at hassdesign.com. Delta Crochet Technique can be used to create many beautiful patterns, including the crocheted shawl worn by Jessica Simpson on TV. I designed a shawl pattern using a variation on the Delta Crochet Technique with a bigger mesh. Our Crochet Shawl pattern comes with a tutorial and detailed instruction to make it easy and fun to crochet. If you find these techniques useful, please link to us on your website. |

Basic Delta Mesh The Basic Delta Mesh contains triangles alternating pointing up and down. Each (down) triangle is made out of tr, ch 4, tr into the same stitch you placed the first tr. By skipping 4 st, tr we make the next (up) triangle. Ch 4, tr in same st the next (down) triangle and so on.
In order to get nice pointed triangles, always place both tr of a triangle into the loop between the 2 tr of previous row (marked in red). To practice this mesh. Start with ch 16 for foundation, ch 4 for first tr (called turning chain), ch 4, tr back in 9th ch from hook, *sk 4 st, tr , ch 4, tr in same st*, repeat 2 more times. By now you have used up all the ch’s of the Foundation. To go up to the next row again ch 4 for first tr, tr in space between the next 2 tr of row 1 and so on. |

Delta Mesh Corner To create a corner, crochet two triangles pointing in the same direction. Otherwise, everything is the same as the Basic Delta Mesh.

Delta Mesh with Puffs By changing the tr to Puffs, you are able to give the mesh a different look. As you see from the drawing, you already know how to crochet the Basic Mesh with tr (Row 1). Row 2 is an example of the Mesh with 2-tr Puffs. The only difference is for you to change the tr to 2-tr Puffs. In Row 3 we used 3-tr Puffs. In Row 4, you see the Mesh with 4-tr Puffs.
Refer to the Stitch Legend to review the Puff Stitches. |
